For some people the Family pet is like one of the kids, or their Best Friend!  I understand how you can feel about the family pet, we have a Boxador (Lab/Boxer mix) and a Bearded Dragon and couldn't imagine not having them in the house!  3 years ago we had to put our beloved Labador, Bandit to sleep and he is still missed...
